How to access FTP from My Computer

This tutorial is prepared for those who find it difficult to access FTP sites to upload and download the files. The tutorial is only valid for Windows machine and the screenshots are made in Windows XP.

Step 1. Open My Computer

Step 2. Type the ftp address on the Address Bar. Don't forget the "FTP://..."

Step 3. When you press 'Enter' or 'Return' key, a new dialog box appears in which you can type the username and password.

Step 4 : The files in the FTP will be visible. Now, you can copy the files to your local hard drive or paste your file into it. (The copy, paste, delete actions in the ftp folder will only work if the owner has given permission to do so.)

Drag-and-drop can also be done with the files when opened in My Computer.

The FTP site can also be opened in browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome. But, browsers don't allow you to upload files into the FTP. So it would be better to use My Computer.

The best option, for advance users, is to use FTP client softeare like FileZilla, CuteFTP etc.
